Steam trains along the sea wall

A "must" for steam enthusiasts and photographers! Once again, in 2008, the old steam trains will be back running between Bristol and the English Riviera resorts of Paignton and Kingswear in the South Hams district of glorious Devon. The Torbay Express will be running for 17 days, on Sundays and some Saturdays, along the sea wall between Dawlish and Teignmouth. The exact dates can be found on our events page. Disabled Parking

There are 66 car parks owned or leased by Teignbridge throughout the district which are covered by the Off Street Parking Place Order. There are 5425 fee paying spaces, controlled by pay and display or pay on foot systems.

Wide bays are provided in most locations, enabling blue badge holders requiring extra room to get in and out of spaces.

Blue badge holders are required to pay to park.

Shopmobility

Shopmobility offers free use of powered & manual wheelchairs and scooters for those unable to get around the town. The vehicles are loaned on a daily basis - weekdays 10am to 3pm (Saturdays may be possible by prior arrangement).

Newton Abbot Markets and Car Boot Sales

Newton Abbot Markets offer a variety of activities including both indoor and outdoor markets featuring a food hall. There are also livestock auctions farmers markets and car boot sales.

The Outdoor Market operates in Market Square from 9am until 4pm Wednesday and Saturday.

The Farmers' Market is in Courtenay Street every Tuesday from 9am until 4pm.

Car Boot sales are held on various Sundays, either in the Cattle Market, or, on rainy days, in the multi storey carpark from 7am until 1pm. Exact dates can be found on our Events Page.

Exeter Races

Exeter Racecourse sits high on the top of Haldon Hill, just outside Exeter with wonderful views down towards Dartmoor. It is the highest racecourse in the land at 850 feet, the second longest at 2 miles and has been described as not only one of the loveliest courses, but one of the fairest tracks in the country.

Churston Golf Club 01803 842751 The course is laid out on a long strip of typical downland turf that stretches westward along the cliffs towards Brixham. Handicap requirements: Certificate required. Green Fees: £40 per round, £45 per day W/D £45 per round, £50 per day W/E. Website.

Dainton Park Golf Club 01803 815000 A fine and varied parkland course with tree lined fairways, water features on 6 holes and two of the toughest opening holes in Devon. Floodlit driving range and delightful clubhouse/restaurant. Green Fees: £25. Website.

Woodbury Park Golf & Country Club 01395 233500 The Oaks 18 hole championship par 72 course provides 6870 yards of great golf.
