Welcome to Newton Abbot Newton Abbot is a market town at the head of the Teign estuary. There is an agricultural livestock market held every Wednesday with both an outdoor and an indoor market as well as the pedestrianised shopping centre. Newton Abbot used to be a major railway centre where additional locomotives were attached to trains before they attempted the steep banks between Newton and Plymouth.
